This is the seventh coin in the exclusive series titled “Twelve Labours of Hercules” and it is designed around the capture of the Cretan Bull. It is once again portrayed in stunning ultra high relief detail on a rimless, antique-finished .999 silver coin.
Backstory:
This formidable beast was believed to be a gift from Poseidon, the god of the sea, to King Minos of Crete. However, its ferocity posed a significant threat to the surrounding regions. Hercules was entrusted with the mission of capturing this bull and presenting it before Eurystheus, his master and commander. Hercules confronted a daunting challenge, but through unwavering determination and sheer strength, he successfully subdued the Cretan Bull and brought it to Eurystheus.
The bull was housed within the grand stables of the king, yet Eurystheus was overcome with fear by its imposing presence and hastily retreated. The Cretan Bull came to symbolize Hercules’ might and triumph over yet another mythological adversary.
