In a ruse to ensnare Fenrir, the Gods proposed that he allow himself to be bound by the net, but the wolf consented only on the condition that a deity place one hand in his mouth as a sign of trust. Upon realizing he had been tricked, Fenrir retaliated by biting off Tyrβs hand, who had bravely volunteered for the perilous task.
