2019 Great Britain 2 Ounce Queen's Beasts Falcon of Plantagenets Gold and Ruthenium Silver Coin
Presenting the next highly anticipated release in the Queen's Beasts coin series. As with all issues, the 2019 Falcons of Plantagenets feature the stunning finishing quality that starts with a full plating of Ruthenium followed by a .999 gold plating of the reverse motif, Queen Elizabeth effigy and border on the obverse face.
Edward III was fond of hawking and falconry and is said to have chosen the White Falcon as his official symbol as a result of this love. King Edward III was not the only Plantagenet monarch, or other monarchs of England, to use and appreciate the White Falcon. King Edward IV, the great-great-grandson of Edward III, used the seal. King Henry VII used the falcon in his seal and Henry VIIIs daughter, Queen Elizabeth I, also revered the badge.
The coin is exceptionally thick, as the diameter is the same as a one ounce coin. Unusually, both sides were executed by Jody Clark, an engraver at the Royal Mint. His effigy of the Queen is the only fifth to have graced British coins since 1953.
Please note: Gold and Ruthenium application in addition to all packaging is a 3rd party mint enhancement.
