2016 1 Onza Santa Muerte Libertad Ruthenium & Colored Silver Coin

$140.00 CAD

This beautiful and rare coin issue features a 2016 1 Onza Silver Libertad completely plated in Black Ruthenium and a traditional Mexican folklore colored design applied to the reverse.  The thematic artwork along with the low mintage and quality presentation box make this a Libertad "must have" collectors piece.

Background of Santa Muerte (Holy Death)
Nuestra Señora de la Santa Muerte or, colloquially, Santa Muerte (Holy Death), is a female deity of Mexican folk religion, venerated primarily in Mexico and the Southwestern United States. A personification of death, she is associated with healing, protection, and safe delivery to the afterlife by her devotees. Despite condemnation by the Catholic Church, her cult has risen to an unprecedented prominence in the 2000s and 2010s, as a continuation of the Aztec goddess of death Mictecacihuatl (Nahuatl for “Lady of the Dead”) clad in Spanish iconography.

*Ruthenium plating and artwork are applied by a private, third party mint in Europe.
