2013 Vanuatu 1 Ounce Forest Animals Raccoon High Relief Silver Coin

$130.00 CAD

A beautiful issue of the amazing 'Forest Animals' series, it is dedicated to the funniest and most famous animals of the forest. This coin depicts the amiable Raccoon known also as the washer bear, because they sometimes "wash" their food, rapidly dunking it in water before eating.

This coin depicts a raccoon in intricate high relief enriched with two onyx gemstone as animal eyes. The obverse depicts the Republic of Vanuatu emblem. The coin set ships with 2 Certificates of Authenticity, one for the gemstones and another for the low mintage coin.

The raccoon is a medium-sized mammal native to North America. There are six other species of raccoons, in addition to the familiar northern (North American) raccoon. Most other species live on tropical islands. The raccoon is the largest of the procyonid family, having a body length of 40 to 70 cm. Two of the raccoon's most distinctive features are its extremely dexterous front paws and its facial mask, which are themes in the mythology of several Native American tribes.
