Germania Mint at Art in Coins

Freyr, the 3rd issue in Germania’s Gods series is the twin brother of Freyja, the god of vegetation, harvest, fertility and peace, but also the patron of marriage and prosperity. He was called the noblest god, loved by all. His attribute was a magic sword that could fight on its own, as well as the golden boar Gullinbursti, which could run faster than any horse and glowed in the dark.

According to belief, he gave up his sword to win the heart of his beloved giantess Groi, which consequently led to his death at the hands of the ruler of the Flaming Giants during Ragnarok.
