The Design:

The reverse of the coin features a striking depiction of the Pharaoh Hound’s head, carefully capturing the breed’s distinctive features: long upright ears, a slender muzzle, and a short, smooth coat. The background is composed of geometrically arranged sun rays, referring to the ancient Egyptian heritage traditionally associated with the breed’s name. The Maltese cross – one of Malta’s most important symbols – is placed in the central part of the composition.

The obverse features the Coat of Arms of Malta surrounded by a sun ray motif and the Maltese cross, creating a harmonious composition that emphasizes the national character of the issue.
