The hero of the first coin in the new Bodvar Saga series by Germania Mint is Bodvar, the invincible warrior whose life was forever altered by tragedy and a thirst for justice. The 2026 Bodvar Saga: Loss Vengeful with rich color and antique finish celebrates the strength, courage and dramatic story of the legendary warrior.
On the reverse, a dramatic moment that forever changed Bodvar’s fate is captured. The warrior, bound in chains, stands powerless before an overpowering attacker, while his wife Astrid dies on her knees amidst the flames consuming their village. It is a scene full of pain, tension, and the merciless hand of fate. From her last words, Bodvar learns that their daughter Sunneva has been abducted. Devastated by loss, yet consumed by rising fury, he swears to find his child and sets out on a relentless quest for justice.
On the obverse, the central motif is the sacred Mount Thorbjorn. The monumental rocky massif takes the shape of a roaring bear, symbolizing strength and divine power. On its forehead is carved the Sowilo rune. From the stone bear’s mouth flow waterfalls that feed the rivers at its base. The coin’s outer ring forms a magical runic circle. Among the bear’s stone teeth is placed a Germanic shield with a double-headed eagle, while chains wrap around the entire composition, symbolically linking Bödvar’s destiny to the mythical mountain.
Designed by Mateusz Frąckowiak, the coin captures the drama and heroism of Bodvar’s world. The worldwide mintage is a very limited 999 pieces, presented in a stylish box, thematic printed sleeve and a Certificate of Authenticity.
