This extraordinary coin is created in cooperation with Andrzej Sapkowski, a famous Polish writer who wrote books in the series ‘The Witcher’. On the basis of his works, CD Project Red created a series of games in addition to a hit Netflix TV series. In the spirit of this massively popular franchise, Mint of Gdansk will release collectible coins with incredible designs from The Witcher.
The Witcher saga continues with the 8th issue in the series, The Season of Storms with every detail brougt to vidid life thanks to the exceptional high relief strike. There is also select gilding and a special colored 3D insert on the reverse.
Crafted from 2 ounces of pure silver (Ag 999), this coin vividly brings to life a pivotal scene from the book series, marking a turning point in the story of one of the key sorceresses – Lytta Neyd, also known as Coral.
At the center of the reverse is the fountain from Coral’s villa patio, which the sorceress uses to perform hydromancy. Here, Lytta casts a stabilizing spell to gain a vision concerning Geralt’s swords. “The water in the fountain swirled and bubbled… It turned smooth, like covered in oil, pulsing with flashes of light.” Sapkowski’s words are brought to life with remarkable realism on the coin’s surface.
Crowning the fountain is a 3D insert – a ballerina statue representing Coral at the age of twelve. Beside the fountain stands the sorceress herself, bent over and focused, watching the water and what it reveals. Selective gilding highlights the crossed swords, symbolizing Geralt’s iconic weapons. The background features an elegant patio with classical arcades, sculpted pillars and stone flooring.
The obverse of the coin bears the coat of arms of the issuer (Niue), the face value of 5 dollars, the year of issue (2025) and details about weight and silver purity. Completing the design is the gate of Kaer Morhen – the Witcher fortress – depicted with imposing strength, featuring a lowered portcullis and a steep approach. It’s flanked by two intricately decorated swords – one silver, one steel – adorned with Witcher signs and the symbol of the wolf, emblem of the Witcher School Geralt belongs to.
