Yggdrasil, the Autumn Edition of the mythical Tree of Life, connects all parts of the universe and is the final issue in the Mythical Forest Series. This mighty Ash Tree, whose branches reach the heavens and roots stretch across nine worlds – from the realm of the gods to the land of the dead – symbolizes life, rebirth, the interconnectedness of all beings and cosmic order.
Mythical creatures dwell within its branches, such as the serpent Nidhogg, who gnaws at its roots, and the squirrel Ratatoskr, who carries messages between its worlds. Yggdrasil even survived Ragnarok, offering refuge to two humans who would become the beginning of a renewed mankind.
It stands as a symbol of hope – that even after the end of the world, life can begin anew.
The Design:
The reverse of the coin by Germania Mint features the powerful Yggdrasil (embossed with brilliant metallic coloring in Autumn-like hues) with a serpent hidden in its roots, gnawing at the tree. The obverse depicts the iconic double-headed eagle, well-known to collectors – a symbol of past and future. The lightning bolts in its talons are a divine attribute, representing the power to create and destroy.
Designed by Mateusz Frąckowiak, the Autumn edition will be issued in a very limited mintage of 400 pieces. Each one is enclosed in a lens capsule that allows for an even more detailed appreciation of the coin’s intricate design.
