This is the third issue in this popular abstract series from Cook Islands. Inspired by the famous “Giant‘s Causeway” in Ireland, hexagons of different heights can be found all over the coin. In addition to this volcanic wonder on the Irish coast, naturally formed hexagons adorn our blue planet in a wide variety of places. From the striking basalt columns of Devils Postpile National Monument in California to the basic shapes of snow crystals, juxtaposed soap bubbles or, perhaps most famously, the beehive.

This coin presents a hexagon theme in an abstract way while refracting light from all angles. Thanks to the high relief smartminting® process, countless polished and partially beveled hexagons form an exciting surface structure.
