This stunningly colored 3 oz UHR silver coin is the first release in the “Great Micromosaic Passion II” series minted in the style of mosaic art. A legal tender issue of Palau, it is dedicated to Mexican painter Andre Sanchez and his renowned work, Frida Kahlo La Maravilla.

Design:

The design of this wonderful coin uses the graphic elaboration of an image of Frida Kahlo by Andre Sanchez and reinterprets it with the most advanced and ambitious minting technologies from CIT and Mayer Mint.

The reverse of the coin portrays the image in a crisply defined multi-layer Ultra High Relief. The incredible strike gives the appearance that Frida’s body enveloped by floral elements in bright and vivid colors.

The obverse of the coin is entirely covered by the mosaic pattern outlining geometric and symmetrical floral motifs. It also depicts the Coat of Arms of Palau, containing the inscriptions: “20$” – the face value and “GREAT MICROMOSAIC PASSION II” – the name of the series.
