This beautiful 5 ounce silver proof coin belongs to the impressive Cook Islands Mother of Pearl Series and pays tribute to the famous landmark designed by architect and engineer, Gustav Eiffel. His masterpiece, the wrought-iron lattice Eiffel Tower on the Champ de Mars in Paris, France was completed in 1889 as the centerpiece of that year’s World’s Fair.
It is a unique piece of art which results from the technically elaborate coloring and shaping process. A stunning 45 mm natural Mother of Pearl inlay is surrounded by a 65 mm .999 pure silver coin. The design of this inlay taking shape through ultrasonic waves together with the colorization can take up to 3 months in a sophisticated production process.
The reverse of the coin portrays the Titanic at sail amongst icebergs inlayed in genuine Mother of Pearl. The obverse of the coin features the effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.
