An important note, the Argyle diamond mine in Western Australia ceased operations in 2020 which means more than 90% of total global supply of these rare colored diamonds is no longer coming to market. If the Jewelled series continues, we anticipate continually higher prices for future releases.
And now, here is the 2023 Jewelled Snake, an exceptional numismatic centerpiece showcasing rare and spectacular treasures from two Western Australian icons – Argyle Pink Diamonds and The Perth Mint.
Believed to wield mysterious powers, snakes have been held in lofty regard for millennia. In ancient Oriental mythology, they were credited with an abundance of wisdom. According to the principles of feng shui, snakes can help attract wealth, while lunar astrology ascribes strong leadership skills to those born under the sign of the snake.
Struck from 10 Troy Ounces of 99.99% pure gold in proof quality, the coin is mounted with a three-dimensional figure of a snake coiled about a tree branch. The 18-carat gold snake is pave-set with 175 pink diamonds from the Argyle mine, while the belly is pave-set with 111 white diamonds. Two emeralds represent the eyes of the snake.
Each coin is issued as Australian legal tender under the Australian Currency Act 1965.
The Perth Mint will release only eight of these rare and collectable coins on a mint-to-order basis. Please note the lead time for ordering this coin is between two and four weeks.
