The Taihe Palace of the Forbidden City is located in the center of the Forbidden City, it is the first of the three palaces. The exquisite coiled dragon caisson ceiling in the hall is China’s most imperial building structure. The caisson ceiling of Taihe Palace is located in the middle of the main hall. It is divided into upper, middle, and lower layers. The upper one is round caisson, the lower one is square caisson, and the middle is octagonal caisson. This design embodies China’s traditional saying of “Heaven above and on earth” and “round sky and square earth”. There is a golden dragon carved that bow and look down from caisson ceiling, with a Hsuan-yuen mirror in mouth, the carving is fine. It contrasts with the golden dragon on the giant pillar in the hall, which further highlights the solemnity and luxury of the imperial palace.
