The reverse of the coin features the beautifully coloured portrait of Cecilia Gallerani, when she was about 16 years old and was renowned for her beauty, scholarship and poetry. The coin is struck with more than 8,000 tiles in exceptional high relief, to reproduce and empathize the extraordinary beauty of this piece of mosaic art in miniature. On the left side of the reverse, the year of issue written in Roman numbers: “MMXX” – 2020.
The obverse of the coin features the Coat of Arms of Palau, surrounded by a beautiful decorative micropuzzle pattern. All around the obverse, the inscriptions: “MICROPUZZLE TREASURES” – the name of the series, “REPUBLIC OF PALAU” – the issuing country and “20$” – the face value. Each coin is individually numbered on the edge.
Lady with an Ermine (Italian: Dama con l’ermellino [ˈdaːma kon lermelˈliːno]; is a portrait painting from 1489–1490 by Italian artist Leonardo da Vinci. Painted in oil on walnut panel, it is housed in the Czartoryski Museum and is one of Poland’s national treasures. The portrait’s subject is Cecilia Gallerani, painted at a time when she was the mistress of Ludovico Sforza, Duke of Milan, and Leonardo was in the Duke’s service. It is one of only four portraits of women painted by Leonardo, the others being the Mona Lisa, Ginevra de’ Benci, and La Belle Ferronniere.
